Death of America by a thousand cuts of liberty

Pat Robertson and his ministry are performing an important service, sparking what hopefully will become the great civil rights campaign of our time. A deadly and vast patchwork of laws & regulations across the nation have led everyone in this country into a dangerous situation where they can’t help but break one of these laws/regulations at one point or another. As Pat pointed out, America today has more people in prison than Stalin had prisoners at the height of the Gulags. Americans now must obey over 300,000 laws/regulations, and many do go to prison for violating them; more than a few are quite petty & ridiculous, as illustrated in the article linked below. We have busy-body politicians, both on the left & the right, to thank for this horrible situation …

When someone says ‘America is the most free nation on earth,’ I just laugh. Frankly, I don’t know who exactly is free now, but America is not a free nation anymore. American liberty died sometime in the last two decades, probably during Bill Clinton’s tenure. 2012 is, I firmly believe, our very last of very last opportunities to turn things around. It is time to demand more of our elected officials; it is time to demand more of ourselves and stop falling for phony ‘tough on crime’ messages that have no substance to them. Let us start getting smart on crime, and stop throwing non-violent offenders into costly and cruel prisons. It is past time that good men and women spoke up, but people today are scared to death of what may be coming next.
